1968 Dodge Charger "Hellucination" Built By SpeedKore

SpeedKore continues to elevate their game, mixing refined design with brutal muscle car power. Their newest build, a 1968 Dodge Charger re-imagined by Ralph Gilles, is dubbed “Hellucination”. The body has been swapped for a full carbon-fiber unit, riding on a custom SpeedKore perimeter frame. This completely evolved Charger is powered by one of Mopar’s 1,000-horsepower Hellephant crate engines.

To complete the menacing look, Hellucination utilizes Dapper Lighting 575 Headlights with switchback halos up front, and LED Sequential Tail lights in the rear. The Full-Projector LED headlights were custom installed and SpeedKore opted to utilize the Amber setting of the White/Amber Switchback halos in order to complement the car’s menacing look.

The body, floor pans, fenders, and valances are all recreated in carbon-fiber and finished off with a clear coat so as not to hide the feat of engineering and lightweight technology. A walk around the car reveals tons of little changes, reimagining the stock trims and bits with modern engineering, lightweight materials, and elegant design touches.

Take a look underneath and you’ll find a sleek full perimeter frame chassis. The chassis integrates a double A-arm front suspension design from Detroit Speed with a custom in house 4 bar diagonal link done by SpeedKore to create a track capable ride with modern response and feel. Fuel and oil lines have been integrated into the frame rails, doubling as incredibly clean and sleek as well as providing protection. The improvements to the feel continue with an Ididit steering column, Woodward steering rack, Penske dual-adjustable coilovers, and a full Brembo brake system. The Wheels are a custom “Hellucination” design done by HRE. The staggered setup uses 19x9-inch front and 20x12-inch rear wheels with 265/35ZR19 and 345/30ZR20 Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires.  

Inside of the car they continue to reimagine the classic design with modern details including custom door panels and a SpeedKore custom center console. Carbon fiber panels and trim reduce even more weight and add racecar flair. The upholstery by Gabe’s Custom Interiors beautifully covers the carbon fiber backed seats with RaceQuip four-point harnesses. Classic Instruments gauges provide all the important data and blend perfectly into the matte black dash. And for those cruises the interior houses a full KICKER Bluetooth audio system. 

Under the hood of “Hellucination” sits serial number 001 of Mopar’s 1,000-horsepower Hellephant crate engines. An all-aluminum 426 cubic inch monster mated to a ZF eight-speed transmission. The custom-built exhaust utilizes MagnaFlow mufflers.

All these details come together in such a way that the Original persona of the Charger is still very much there, only this Charger has been eating like a bodybuilder and lifting like a powerlifter. If you have the chance to see this car in person, you shouldn’t pass it up although there’s a good chance you won’t be able to miss it.
